HIGH-TECH POLYMER COMPOUNDS
ALBENIMAR company presents the products of its partner from Russia . The plant has launched a production line of high-tech polymer compounds for casting elements of cars, various parts of washing machines, refrigerators and televisions, as well as for the manufacture of building materials
It is impossible to imagine the modern world without plastic products: interior and exterior details of cars, household appliances, electronics, construction, cable products — all these are plastics. Polymer compounds are raw materials for plastic products. On our equipment, we modify the base polymers and give them the necessary consumer properties.
Polymer compound is a multicomponent thermoplastic material that consists of a polymer matrix, modifying additives and fillers. It is produced in the form of granules, used in the process of manufacturing parts and products by casting (pouring). Depending on the task, it is given the necessary consumer properties: rigidity, impact resistance, resistance to elevated temperatures.
Polymer compounds are materials in the form of special impregnations or fillings based on polyester or epoxy resins, bitumen, polystyrene, etc., and can also be used to create silicone molds for casting. They are applicable in various electrical machines and equipment, radio and electronic equipment, the creation of decorative and building elements.
The main feature of polymer compounds is that they can be poured into molds for various products, including handmade ones. Also, the use of these materials makes it possible to increase the service life of various electrical appliances and apparatuses, to protect their internal elements from the negative effects of the external environment and mechanical damage.
Due to their composition and manufacturing method , compounds have the following advantages:
they do not evaporate, because they do not contain solvents that have the property of volatility;
protect the elements of the devices on which they are applied from the effects of oil, gasoline and other aggressive substances;
give minimal shrinkage during the hardening process;
they are characterized by a low tendency to fire and high thermal insulation;
possibility of application on wet material;
non-toxic (no harmful and dangerous substances are released during solidification).
The main areas of application of compounds are the automotive industry (details of the exterior, interior, engine compartment of the car, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems), household appliances and electronics (cabinet and internal parts of refrigerators and washing machines, televisions), the construction industry (facade panels, drainage systems, hot and cold water pipes).
Compounds made of polyester and epoxy resins can have different curing temperatures: from 200C to 1200C. It all depends on the type of resin and hardener. All materials of this composition have a small shrinkage – no more than 0.8%. Ultimately, after hardening, such compounds do not soften under the influence of temperatures and remain unchanged in the temperature range from -450C to +1300C. The disadvantage of these options is that they must be used very quickly after dilution, after 25 minutes they become very viscous and further application is difficult.
Thermoplastic compounds are used at temperatures from -450C to +1050C. At temperatures above 1300C, they can turn into a liquid state. They give a rather large shrinkage – 7-9%, and harden under vacuum drying at a temperature of more than 1000C
Compliance with the simple rules of working with this material guarantees high quality results and absolute safety for humans.+
Advantages of the material
The main advantages of polymer compounds include:
minimal shrinkage during the curing process;
complete absence of a volatile component;
inability to isolate by-products.
That is why the polymer-based compound is used where maximum uniformity of the coating is important, an ideal working surface without any additional processing. During the solidification process, the material will not emit any bubbles or drops of moisture, it will not separate, therefore the result will meet the highest requirements.
The widespread use of compounds is also explained by the excellent properties of those products that are made from it. These include:
increased elasticity;
resistance to temperature changes;
resistance to electric shock;
excellent pressure resistance.
Production of injection molds
All these properties of the compound are extremely necessary in the production of various types of injection molding equipment. The optimal price of this material allows you to reduce the cost of each mold, make it profitable to purchase it even for private craftsmen and small-scale production. But the most important thing is that using a polymer compound significantly expands the range of shapes and textures that can be obtained.
The compound has minimal adhesion. And this applies to all its types. Therefore, it is easy to separate the frozen product from the sample, and subsequently, when working, there will be no problems with pouring any materials into the polymer base. A surface that perfectly matches the original is what the owner of such a high-tech mold will get in the end.
Safety rules
When working with a compound, several important rules should be remembered. Firstly, the composition has a short period of viability. Therefore, it is better to use special dispensers and devices for mixing, do not mix the base with the hardener in advance.
Secondly, in order to obtain the most durable and durable casting mold, it is necessary to accurately observe the proportions. The key to a high-quality compound is a verified ratio of the polymer component and the hardener. Otherwise, you can get a rather fragile product, brittle, not resistant to freezing, or excessively plastic, subject to deformation even under low loads.
Thirdly, it is necessary to understand that it is still a chemical composition, a polymer, therefore, when working, contact with skin and mucous membranes should be avoided, gloves should be used. Although the compound does not contain volatile substances, the process of creating molds should take place in a ventilated room or with a working hood
